Panattoni delivers DPD for Kent

Panattoni Park Sittingbourne in Kent, the net zero carbon logistics and warehousing development, has secured a major new occupier with the opening of DPD’s new state of the art parcel hub on site.
The new 58,000 sq ft facility was designed and built specifically by Panattoni for DPD to strengthen its distribution services in the South East.
DPD’s arrival is the latest milestone in Panattoni’s investment of £635m to date in Kent, thanks to its sites in Aylesford, Sittingbourne and Wrotham. The company’s most recent acquisition is the vacant Marley Works site near Lenham, which offers the prospect of a further 1,000,000ft2 of high-quality employment space being developed in Kent.
When fully operational, the automated DPD hub will greatly increase its capacity at the site compared to typical schemes, reaching a predicted 80,000 parcels per day. DPD will also be expanding its EV fleet at Sittingbourne, helping the firm reach its net zero targets as part of the global Geopost Group.
The deal is part of DPD’s £350 million investment into significantly expanding its UK network, and is one of seven new facilities coming forward. The 35-acre park at Sittingbourne has been designed to provide best in class infrastructure, power, and yard capability for high intensity distribution uses. It has achieved leading sustainability outcomes, including BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC A performance, supported by solar PV and electric vehicle charging provision.
DPD’s occupation supports Panattoni’s wider net zero carbon development strategy at Sittingbourne, delivering modern logistics capacity aligned with occupiers’ operational and decarbonisation requirements.
The remaining unit at Panattoni Park Sittingbourne offers 205,000 sq ft and is available immediately, ready for tenant fit-out, has a 15m clear internal height and 2.52 MVA of power through the solar PV installed on the roof and grid connection.
The Sittingbourne development is located just off junction 5 of the M2, and benefits from the completion of the £92 million investment to upgrade the Stockbury roundabout, as well as the £37m improvement of the Grovehill roundabout between Iwade and Kemsley. It is strategically positioned in a prime location mid-way between London and Dover through the M20 and M25.
